Hot weather can be dangerous and can cause serious illness. Stay safe and look out for others who may be particularly vulnerable to the heat. Read advice on GOV.UK

Refugee Week 2026

A programme of events and activities for all Islington residents and a chance for us to celebrate all those seeking sanctuary in our borough.

Refugee Week is the largest arts and cultural festival in the world that celebrates the contributions, creativity, and resilience of those who seek sanctuary.

It takes place from 15 to 21 June 2026.

The theme for 2026 is 'Courage' which comes from the Latin word 'cor' meaning 'heart'.

Refugee Week calls all Islington residents to come together, to connect with each other, and celebrate the positives of being part of a community that welcomes and stands in solidarity with our refugee and migrant residents.

Find out what’s on and take part in our Refugee Week programme.
