Stay safe in very hot weather

Very hot weather is expected for the next few days. A red heat-health alert (the highest level) is in place for London on Wednesday and Thursday.

Hot weather can be dangerous and can cause serious illness. Stay safe and look out for others who may be particularly vulnerable to the heat. Read advice on GOV.UK

Cool spaces

There are local cool spaces that are free and open to everyone. Visit them to rest, drink water and stay cool. Find a cool space near you

Access Islington hubs

North and South Access Islington hubs are closed due to the hot weather. The Central Hub is open for urgent, in-person support, until 4pm today (Wednesday 24 June) but avoid travelling unless it is essential.

You can still access our services online and you can call us on 020 7527 2000 if you need to speak to someone.

Shop front licences

You need to apply for a licence to sell goods on a public pathway in front of a shop or business.

The licence fee is calculated by the area you would be permitted to trade from by the square metre price for your location.

Banding Per month, per square metre
Street banding A £15
Street banding B £10
Street banding C £5

More information on street banding.

The goods on display/on sale should generally be a product related to what is being sold inside the shop, for example a grocery shop may only display fruit and vegetables outside. Any other products may be considered on application.

Once you have applied, we need to do a site visit to estimate the monthly fees and to agree on the display dimensions before a licence can be issued. Please use the link below to complete the online application and payment form. The fee is £100 for new applications and £50 for renewals.
