Stay safe in very hot weather

Very hot weather is expected for the next few days. A red heat-health alert (the highest level) is in place for London on Wednesday and Thursday.

Hot weather can be dangerous and can cause serious illness. Stay safe and look out for others who may be particularly vulnerable to the heat. Read advice on GOV.UK

Cool spaces

There are local cool spaces that are free and open to everyone. Visit them to rest, drink water and stay cool. Find a cool space near you

Access Islington hubs

North and South Access Islington hubs are closed due to the hot weather. The Central Hub is open for urgent, in-person support, until 4pm today (Wednesday 24 June) but avoid travelling unless it is essential.

You can still access our services online and you can call us on 020 7527 2000 if you need to speak to someone.

Childminder briefings

Childminder briefings take place each term and are open to all Islington childminders and their assistants. Join us to hear about good practice ideas, find out about Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), Ofsted, safeguarding updates, childcare funding and support for childminders.

Find out how and when to join the briefings in the Bright Start newsletter. Sign up to receive the Bright Start newsletter. Each briefing is online between 5.45pm and 6.45pm.

Training

We offer a range of training courses, and they are managed through MyLearning. Childminders need to have a MyLearning account to find and book on training. Request an account to get access to training courses.

15 and 30 hours funding

Childminders can offer free early education places. Find out more on the early years funding page.

Register of Good Practice

Our Register of Good Practice supports early years practitioners in their Continuing Professional Development (CPD). The Register is split into areas of expertise and childminders are encouraged to contact directly to arrange a visit to see how they do things.

Advertise your services

Islington's Family Information Service, (FIS), is a telephone and web-based information and advice service. Islington childminders can advertise their services with the FIS including current and future vacancies.
