Stay safe in very hot weather

Very hot weather is expected for the next few days. A red heat-health alert (the highest level) is in place for London on Wednesday and Thursday.

Hot weather can be dangerous and can cause serious illness. Stay safe and look out for others who may be particularly vulnerable to the heat. Read advice on GOV.UK

There are local cool spaces that are free and open to everyone. Visit them to rest, drink water and stay cool. Find a cool space near you

Access Islington hubs

North and South Access Islington hubs are closed due to the hot weather. The Central Hub is open for urgent, in-person support, until 4pm today (Wednesday 24 June) but avoid travelling unless it is essential.

You can still access our services online and you can call us on 020 7527 2000 if you need to speak to someone.

Islington Council nursery fees

How nursery fees are calculated and applying for financial help.

We pay for a portion (subsidy) of childcare for children that are six months and older in all our children’s and early years centres, and some voluntary sector community nurseries. This helps parents and carers in work or studying get local, affordable, high-quality childcare.

Costs based on household income

Your costs are on a 'sliding scale' based on household income. We ask for evidence of your income so that we know which charging band to put you in.

Parents who live in Islington and non-residents can also apply for non-subsidised or ‘marketed’ places, but Islington residents get first choice.

For full details of charges, including all the income bands, read the early years charging policy.

Early education and childcare: 15 and 30 hours

Some 2-year-olds receiving additional government support can get 15 hours free early learning each week, during term time. Get free early learning and childcare for 2-year-olds.

All 3 and 4-year-olds can get 15 hours free during term time. Families eligible for working parent entitlements, can get 30 hours during term-time for children from the term after the child turns 9 months to 4 years.
