B1(c) to residential Article 4 Directions

This consultation has ended

Start date 03 November 2016
End date 16 December 2016

Islington Council have made three non-immediate Article 4 Directions to withdraw the permitted development right which allows B1c light industrial use to change to C3 residential use without planning permission.

The three Directions cover the Vale Royal Locally Significant Industrial Site, the Central Activities Zone within Islington and other B1c locations across the borough. The Directions are considered necessary as the permitted development right has significant potential harm on local amenity and wellbeing, including the loss of valuable and viable industrial uses in Islington which provide a range of job opportunities and help to support the Central London economy.

The Directions, a copy of the maps defining the areas to which the Directions relate and the public notice relating to the Directions can be viewed below; and at the Municipal Offices, 222 Upper Street, N1 1XR (9am-5pm Monday to Friday).

You may make representations concerning the Article 4 Directions from 3 November 2016 until 16 December 2016 (a period of six weeks).

The Directions will come into force on 3 November 2017 if they are confirmed by the council's Executive. When deciding whether or not to confirm the three Directions, the council will consider all representations received during the consultation period.
