Stay safe in very hot weather

Very hot weather is expected for the next few days. A red heat-health alert (the highest level) is in place for London on Wednesday and Thursday.  

Hot weather can be dangerous and can cause serious illness. Stay safe and look out for others who may be particularly vulnerable to the heat. Read advice on GOV.UK

Cool spaces

There are local cool spaces that are free and open to everyone. Visit them to rest, drink water and stay cool. Find a cool space near you

Access Islington hubs 

North and South Access Islington hubs are closed due to the hot weather. The Central Hub is open for urgent, in-person support, until 4pm today (Wednesday 24 June) but avoid travelling unless it is essential. 

You can still access our services online and you can call us on 020 7527 2000 if you need to speak to someone.

There will be changes to some services in May because of the spring bank holiday on Monday 25 May.

Rubbish and recycling

There will be no service on Monday 25 May. Collections during the week will take place one day later than your usual collection day.

Customer service centre

Access Islington hubs and the customer service line (020 7527 2000) will be closed on Monday 25 May.

You can access most services online. Search for what you need or find it on our homepage. If you cannot find what you need, send us a message and we'll get back to you after the bank holiday.

Repairs

The repairs phone number (020 7527 5400) is closed on Monday 4 and 25 May. If you have an emergency repair, you can call 080 0694 3344.

Parking

On Monday 25 May, we will enforce:

  • usual all day (24 hour) offences like parking on or in double yellow lines, footway double parking, zig zags, disabled and doctor bays.
  • estate parking
  • all moving traffic and bus lane restrictions

Nuisance or abandoned vehicles 

Call 020 7527 7624 to report any parking related issues such as illegal parking and abandoned vehicles. This line is open 24 hours a day.

Libraries

All libraries will be closed on Monday 25 May.

Our libraries have different opening hours. Check library opening times on other days.

Birth, death, marriage, and citizenship services

The registrar office will be closed on Monday 25 May.

Between 9:30am and 12:30pm, a registrar will be able to register deaths and issue burial certificates for funerals taking place within 24 hours.

Reporting anti-social behaviour 

You can continue to report anti-social behaviour (ASB) the same way as usual – report ASB with the online form.

Parks

All parks and facilities will be open to the public as usual.
