Stay safe in very hot weather

Very hot weather is expected for the next few days. A red heat-health alert (the highest level) is in place for London on Wednesday and Thursday.

Hot weather can be dangerous and can cause serious illness. Stay safe and look out for others who may be particularly vulnerable to the heat. Read advice on GOV.UK

Cool spaces

There are local cool spaces that are free and open to everyone. Visit them to rest, drink water and stay cool. Find a cool space near you

Access Islington hubs

North and South Access Islington hubs are closed due to the hot weather. The Central Hub is open for urgent, in-person support, until 4pm today (Wednesday 24 June) but avoid travelling unless it is essential.

You can still access our services online and you can call us on 020 7527 2000 if you need to speak to someone.

Change of circumstances

Tell us about changes to your family like a new baby by following the processes outlined below

If you have a change of circumstance to your housing application you can let us know in the following ways.

  • If you have had a baby, send a copy of the full birth certificate to PO BOX 82074, N1P 3XH.

  • If there has been a relationship breakdown, a death in your family or that children have left home, you should email your housing register officer (see below for who to contact), call us on 020 7527 4140 option 2, or write to us at Islington Council, Rehousing team, PO BOX 82074, N1P 3XH.

  • If you want to tell us about a new partner or new adults joining your family you will need to notify your current landlord so that they can authorise them as members of your household.

  • If you have moved address in Islington and want to remain on the housing register you will need to complete a change of circumstances form

Once we have received your information we will assess your housing application again and write to you with the outcome. This can take up to 6 weeks.

We cannot house most people once they become homeless. Our priority is to help you avoid becoming homeless in the first place. Find out what to do if you are concerned about homelessness.

Documents for your application

You should send any documents that your housing register officer has asked for in support of your housing application to:

This makes sure that your documents are added to your housing application.

Contacting your housing register officer

Your housing register officer is based on the first letter of your address, such as the first letter of your street name or block name. For example, if your street or block name starts with B, your officer will cover addresses starting with B.
