Stay safe in very hot weather

Very hot weather is expected for the next few days. A red heat-health alert (the highest level) is in place for London on Wednesday and Thursday.

Hot weather can be dangerous and can cause serious illness. Stay safe and look out for others who may be particularly vulnerable to the heat. Read advice on GOV.UK

There are local cool spaces that are free and open to everyone. Visit them to rest, drink water and stay cool. Find a cool space near you

Access Islington hubs

North and South Access Islington hubs are closed due to the hot weather. The Central Hub is open for urgent, in-person support, until 4pm today (Wednesday 24 June) but avoid travelling unless it is essential.

You can still access our services online and you can call us on 020 7527 2000 if you need to speak to someone.

Thriving Neighbourhoods project examples

Our Thriving Neighbourhoods investment programme is transforming shared spaces on estates across Islington. Read on for some specific examples.

Holly Park Estate play areas

We have completely rebuilt two play areas on the Holly Park Estate to give children plenty of space to play. Improvements like this are helping to give young families everything they need to thrive in Islington.

Communal gardens on Camden Estate

We have installed new raised wooden planters in the community garden on the Camden Estate so that residents can experience the benefits of being able to grow plants on their doorstep.

Hornsey Lane Community Centre

The community centre on the Hornsey Lane Estate has been renovated with new glass sliding doors and windows, an improved entrance with a new gate and pram shelter, and the surface for the playground outside has been replaced to keep children safe during the nursery's activities.

Bike hangars

Several estates, including Avenell Mansions, have had new bike hangars installed to help residents make greener, cleaner transport choices - feeling confident that they have somewhere safe to store their bikes.
