Stay safe in very hot weather

Very hot weather is expected for the next few days. A red heat-health alert (the highest level) is in place for London on Wednesday and Thursday.

Hot weather can be dangerous and can cause serious illness. Stay safe and look out for others who may be particularly vulnerable to the heat. Read advice on GOV.UK

Cool spaces

There are local cool spaces that are free and open to everyone. Visit them to rest, drink water and stay cool. Find a cool space near you

Access Islington hubs

North and South Access Islington hubs are closed due to the hot weather. The Central Hub is open for urgent, in-person support, until 4pm today (Wednesday 24 June) but avoid travelling unless it is essential.

You can still access our services online and you can call us on 020 7527 2000 if you need to speak to someone.

Condition surveys

We are checking council homes to see what repairs or improvements are needed. We also want to make sure your home is safe.

Ridge and Partners will visit your homes to do a condition survey that checks the safety of your home. We will use information from the survey to plan future repairs and improvements.

You will get a letter from us first. The visit will usually happen around six weeks after that.

When we visit

Visits will be between Monday and Friday, from 8am to 6pm.

You will need to be home to give Ridge access to your property.

If you are not home, they will leave a card. Use this card to book a new time.

The person visiting will have:

  • a Ridge photo ID card
  • a letter from us

Ask for ID before letting them in.

The check will take less than one hour in most homes.

What we will check

The surveyor will look at:

  • all rooms in your home
  • the garden
  • the roof space and other outside spaces

They will take photos of important things like:

  • your kitchen and bathroom
  • windows and boiler
  • anything that looks unsafe

They will not take photos of you or anyone in your home. If you have pets, keep them in another room during the visit.

Sometimes, we will collect extra information to make an Energy Certificate for your home. This certificate shows how good your home is at saving energy.

It uses a scale from A to G, where A is the best and G is the worst. This helps us understand how much it might cost to heat and power your home.

The person visiting cannot help with small repairs or housing questions. You can report repairs online.
