Biodiversity in Islington

Find out about the Biodiversity Action Plan and Biodiversity Duty Report which explain how we’re protecting and enhancing wildlife and green spaces.

Biodiversity Action Plan

Islington’s Biodiversity Action Plan 2020-2025 is a five year strategy outlining how the council, working with its partners, will work to protect and enhance wildlife and green spaces in the borough. The plan has been produced in recognition of the importance of biodiversity to everyone who lives and works in Islington both now and in the future and follows the council declaring a climate and environment emergency in 2019. At a time when concern over climate change and species loss on a global scale is growing, our Biodiversity Action Plan sets out how we in Islington can play our part to help at a local level.

Find the Biodiversity Action Plan at the bottom of the page.

Biodiversity Duty Report

Under the Environment Act 2021, all local authorities must think about how they can protect and improve biodiversity in everything they do. This is known as the biodiversity duty. We are required to consider what actions we can take to further the biodiversity duty and must publish a Biodiversity Duty Report every five years.

Find the Biodiversity Duty Report at the bottom of the page.
