Stay safe in very hot weather

Very hot weather is expected for the next few days. A red heat-health alert (the highest level) is in place for London on Wednesday and Thursday.

Hot weather can be dangerous and can cause serious illness. Stay safe and look out for others who may be particularly vulnerable to the heat. Read advice on GOV.UK

Cool spaces

There are local cool spaces that are free and open to everyone. Visit them to rest, drink water and stay cool. Find a cool space near you

Access Islington hubs

North and South Access Islington hubs are closed due to the hot weather. The Central Hub is open for urgent, in-person support, until 4pm today (Wednesday 24 June) but avoid travelling unless it is essential.

You can still access our services online and you can call us on 020 7527 2000 if you need to speak to someone.

Help to manage and maintain a green space near you

What is an Islington Greener Together (IGT) Champion?

We want to inspire Islington residents to plant and maintain new green spaces, act on climate change and transform neighbourhoods. If you have some time to volunteer and are involved with your local greenspace or want to be, sign up today. You don't need to have any gardening experience or skills - just some enthusiasm to help look after Islington's green spaces!

About the programme

Our partners Groundwork London will provide opportunities for local residents to volunteer with the IGT Champions programme. This includes access to training, support and resources that will enable communities to look after their green spaces.

The IGT Champions programme will tap into the enthusiasm of Islington residents to plant and maintain new green spaces, find new opportunities for greening, act on climate change and transform neighbourhoods.

The IGT Champions programme will provide:

  • Resources: Explore a range of materials, guides, and tools designed to support your volunteering efforts and initiatives.
  • Support: Whether you have questions, need advice, or require assistance, don't hesitate to reach out to our team.
  • Training: Access training sessions and workshops tailored to enhance your knowledge and skills in sustainability, community engagement, and more.
  • Champions Network: Connect with fellow volunteers, share ideas, collaborate on projects, and be part of a supportive community of changemakers.

Islington Greener Together (IGT) Champions programme is joint funded by Islington Council and Future Parks Accelerator.
