Hot weather can be dangerous and can cause serious illness. Stay safe and look out for others who may be particularly vulnerable to the heat. Read advice on GOV.UK

Requirements for valid planning application

All planning applications require supporting documents and information. We often require accurate drawings and plans that clearly show your proposed development.

You can find out more if you need planning advice.

Mandatory application requirements

Location plan

Showing the location and boundaries of the site you are planning to work on and the site area in context:

  • based on an Ordnance Survey map at scale 1:1250 or 1:2500
  • show the surrounding land and buildings
  • mark the application site with a red line
  • mark any other nearby land you own with a blue line

Site plan

This is a more detailed scale plan showing the relationship of the proposal to the site boundary and any buildings on neighbouring land.

You can use the Planning Portal's 'Buy a Plan' service to make sure that you meet our requirements.
