Stay safe in very hot weather

Very hot weather is expected for the next few days. A red heat-health alert (the highest level) is in place for London on Wednesday and Thursday.

Hot weather can be dangerous and can cause serious illness. Stay safe and look out for others who may be particularly vulnerable to the heat. Read advice on GOV.UK

There are local cool spaces that are free and open to everyone. Visit them to rest, drink water and stay cool. Find a cool space near you

Access Islington hubs

North and South Access Islington hubs are closed due to the hot weather. The Central Hub is open for urgent, in-person support, until 4pm today (Wednesday 24 June) but avoid travelling unless it is essential.

Late-Night Levy charges

Levy charges, exemptions, reductions and information on how the money is spent

How we spend the money

Firstly, we deduct our administrative expenses in connection with the levy.

Then we have to split the net amount of levy between the council and Islington police. We must give at least 70% to the police but we can give up to 100%.

We have agreed with the Mayor's Police and Crime Commissioner that the proceeds of the levy will be used in Islington and that we will work together with the Metropolitan Police to devise a joint scheme for the use of the proceeds.

We have established a Late-Night Levy Board to supervise the use of the proceeds which involves representatives of the licensing trade as well as the Islington Police, councillors and the Mayor's Police and Crime Commissioner.
