Stay safe in very hot weather

Very hot weather is expected for the next few days. A red heat-health alert (the highest level) is in place for London on Wednesday and Thursday.

Hot weather can be dangerous and can cause serious illness. Stay safe and look out for others who may be particularly vulnerable to the heat. Read advice on GOV.UK

Cool spaces

There are local cool spaces that are free and open to everyone. Visit them to rest, drink water and stay cool. Find a cool space near you

Access Islington hubs

North and South Access Islington hubs are closed due to the hot weather. The Central Hub is open for urgent, in-person support, until 4pm today (Wednesday 24 June) but avoid travelling unless it is essential.

You can still access our services online and you can call us on 020 7527 2000 if you need to speak to someone.

Local land charges

Local land charges give you important details about the property you are buying. They are usually requested by your solicitor.

Local land charges are rules about the land your property is on that you and any future owners must follow.

Searches

Full searches for local land charges can tell you about what you can or can't do on the land that may affect plans for your property.

  • Local Land Charge Search (LLC1) register lists all the land charges on the property.
  • Con29R search will also tell you extra information about upcoming decisions, planning applications that have been turned down or service charges that are applied to the property.

For example, a local land charge search could show that a loft extension built three years ago doesn't have planning permission and may have to be put back to its original state, or that you must pay a charge to the council if you own the property.

How to search for them

Usually solicitors apply to us and we try to find out whether there are any legal restrictions which may affect the property. We bring all the information together in a local authority search, a legal requirement when buying any land or property.

Call us on Monday to Thursday, 10am to 1pm on 020 7527 3148 or 3297.
