Stay safe in very hot weather

Very hot weather is expected for the next few days. A red heat-health alert (the highest level) is in place for London on Wednesday and Thursday.

Hot weather can be dangerous and can cause serious illness. Stay safe and look out for others who may be particularly vulnerable to the heat. Read advice on GOV.UK

Cool spaces

There are local cool spaces that are free and open to everyone. Visit them to rest, drink water and stay cool. Find a cool space near you

Access Islington hubs

North and South Access Islington hubs are closed due to the hot weather. The Central Hub is open for urgent, in-person support, until 4pm today (Wednesday 24 June) but avoid travelling unless it is essential.

You can still access our services online and you can call us on 020 7527 2000 if you need to speak to someone.

Child performance licence

A child up to the age of 16 may need a licence if they take part in certain events, such as films, plays, or sporting events, where people pay to watch. Find out more and apply.

After you apply

Once we receive your application, we’ll review it and contact you if we need more information. We may not issue a licence if we think that the child’s education, health or well-being will suffer by taking part in the performance.

How long it takes

We recommend applying at least 21 working days before the first performance.

If everything is complete and all documents have been provided, we aim to process applications within 10-working days.

If you can’t meet these timelines due to exceptional circumstances, please contact our licencing officer as soon as possible on:

After the licence has been issued

Once approved, the child can take part in the performances listed on the licence.

We may visit the performance to check:

  • the licence conditions are being followed
  • the venue is suitable
  • the child’s wellbeing.

We can withdraw the licence at any time if we have any concerns about the child’s safety or welfare.
